A Covent Garden Bàcaro
Inspired by the bàcari of Venice, Augustus Harris is a cozy cove serving up cicheti alongside great value wines and cocktails that are far too easy to drink.
Situated in the heart of Covent Garden this new spot, set over two floors, is the perfect place for a pre or post-theatre snack or great for a girly chat after work. We particularly liked the dimly lit basement!
We sampled a selection of the crostini including Mackerel with Pickled Red Onion, Finocciona Salame with a cute little gherkin on top and Basil pesto, mozzarella & tomatoes.
Gorgonzola with Asian pear, grapes and honey was more of an acquired taste but one that grew on me.
But you MUST order the Stracciatella Cheese. Those of you regular readers may remember my (and London’s) obsession with Burrata this summer but I think after last night Stracciatella is my new one. Augustus Harris serve theirs up perfectly seasoned, with a splash of olive oil and focaccia style bread sticks.
The friendly staff suggested the fragrant new basil cocktail which did not disappoint and the Bellini was also a great accompaniment to all the small plates.
I was however, really impressed with the great quality of the wine, which was really reasonably priced. I could easily imagine missing the theatre due to this, you’ve been warned.
