Here at Crummbs HQ you’ll often find us over-indulging. So when we were invited to try out the new light and healthy lunch menu at Pantry at 108 we finished our 3-course breakfast and rolled over there.
Part of the Marylebone Hotel and attached to the meatier bar and grill, The Pantry offers something a whole lot more graceful with the choice of charming light salads or delicious dairy and gluten-free afternoon tea!
The dedicated staff made sure we were suitably comfy & relaxed in our lovely window seat, and we kicked things off with a great glass of fizz produced right here in the UK.
Homemade bread is sliced at the counter – expect sourdough, soda bread and almost cake-like Guinness brown bread all served with homemade butter.
We ate this alongside super green broccoli soup punctuated with beautiful blobs of tangy blue cheese.
Meanwhile, I scooped up slightly spiced butternut squash hummus sprinkled with feta and seeds with pleasingly smokey toasted flatbread.
So far this light lunch was feeling pretty nutritious but not all that light!
The rest of the menu is broken down into salads which can be ordered in two sizes – either eat alone or as a side to the tarts, sandwiches and more substantial mains.
The salad of 12 baby lettuces & microgreens was packed full of grilled flaked organic salmon representing good value for money at £13 for the larger portion. While being a little light on the basil dressing it had a freshness to it that made you feel very smug, or maybe that was the chia seeds.
The slightly Scandi open cured salmon sandwich used great quality slabs of fish and continued the fresh and light theme paired with radish and apple on rye bread.
Alongside this we can recommend the spring superfood salad which was packed full of my favourite things – thanks to Deliciously Ella and Honestly Healthy opening my eyes to healthy eating – I can not get enough of edamame, pomegranate, broccoli, quinoa, and feta – this salad had it all!
If you have any room left at all and want to feel even MORE virtuous than you are in luck as The Juicery is currently on standby to offer expertly concocted glasses of goodness!
You can create your own bespoke juice or smoothie but we loved all the recommendations listed.
Exclusive ‘London Greens’, is made from pear, spinach, lemon, cucumber, basil and coconut water – if only I could start every day this way!
Or so good it must be naughty, ‘Malted Milkshake’ made up of coconut water, almond butter, dates and vanilla protein.
However, true to Crummbs roots we couldn’t leave it there and skip on down to yoga class like good health coverts. No. The counter laden with sweet treats was too tempting for anyone!
Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, lighter-than-air victoria sponge, éclairs with chocolate cream and strawberries or a cheeky slice of raspberry and almond tart. Oh my – you’ll find it hard to choose just one. So we might have eaten 6. Whoops!
Healthy foundations right guys? Enjoy!
