WIN TICKETS TO LONDON WINE WEEK 2017

London Wine Week returns to the capital from 5th – 11th June, bringing with it a week-long celebration of London’s exciting wine scene.

Over 125 of the very best wine bars and restaurants will each be serving flights of wine with delicious food pairings created especially for the festival.

The week will also see a full programme of bespoke events taking place across London, including wine tastings, masterclasses, dinners, brunches, pop-ups and parties.

To get involved, a week-long festival pass is just £10, entitling festival goers to £5 wine flights or bespoke Sip & Snack food pairings in all partner venues, and an oasis of al fresco pop-up wine bars at the London Wine Week Hub in Devonshire Square.

FOR AL FRESCO SUMMER DRINKING…

LONDON WINE WEEK HUB AT DEVONSHIRE SQUARE | MONDAY 5TH – SATURDAY 10TH JUNE

Devonshire Square will once again play host to the LWW Hub as pop-up wine bars from around the world descend on this al fresco gem in the heart of the city. At the centre of the action, festival goers will be able to collect and buy their Festival Passes (Mon to Fri 5-10pm), whilst enjoying £5 wine offerings throughout.

Starting the evening off with some essential sparkle, headline partner and global producer of quality sparkling wine, Freixenet, will be present with its stylish Vintage Wine Van. It will be serving up an exciting and exclusive first look and taste of its new premium Prosecco, alongside its other delicious sparkling wines.

Providing some Latin American spirit with its colourful shipping container pop-up, Wines of Argentina will be pouring some of the region’s best wines. Painted in the vibrant colours of La Boca and filled with original antiques and art from leading Argentine artists, they’ll also be playing Latin beats to keep the party spirit alive.

Vins de Provence will be transporting guests to sandy shores with its pop-up wine bar, serving a selection of deliciously dry, fruity and refreshing rosé wines from the Provence region. Also providing a dash of sunshine, The Wines of Portugal Viva Portugal Bar will showcase the exciting range of styles Portugal has to offer.

WHEN A GIANT SUMMER VINEYARD COMES TO EAST LONDON…

DRINKUP: THE WINE EDIT | THURSDAY 8TH – SATURDAY 10TH JUNE

Taking place at iconic East London venue Oval Space in Bethnal Green, DrinkUp: The Wine Edit will see the warehouse space transformed into a picturesque, sun-drenched vineyard for three days only, with regions from across the warmer climes of Europe serving a selection of delicious wines from each region. As guests weave their way around the numerous bars they’ll be transported to a giant summer vineyard whilst sipping on fresh and elegant wines from the Loire Valley, or the rich and juicy reds of Ribera del Duero – often regarded as the lesser known rival to Rioja. Celebrating the recent sherry trend, flinty dry finos and nutty olorosos from the bodegas of Jerez will be available, as well as the full-bodied, fruity flavours of Graham’s iconic Tawny Port wine – served alongside tasty nata tarts for a sweet treat.

Outside on the Rogue Terrace, a special vermouth terrace created by Regal Rogue, sun-downer aperitif cocktails will be in full flow. Bringing a slice of beach lifestyle, fresh and vibrant coolers and spritzes will be served whilst DJs play classic vinyl soul, funk and disco tunes. The Modern Pantry will be providing tasty food to accompany the wine and keep festival goers sipping all evening.

FOR THE WINE EXPLORERS…

THE WINE TOURS – £5 WINE FLIGHTS AND SIP & SNACK | ALL WEEK

Turning the capital into a city-wide wine tasting, London Wine Week has partnered with over 125 bars and venues to offer £5 wine flights or ‘Sip & Snack’ specials to festival pass holders, who can then take part in self-guided Wine Tours.

The wine flights feature three wines, all complementing each other to showcase a certain grape, region, or producer as chosen by the venues’ expert sommeliers. Venues include Noble Rot, Vinoteca, Luca and Jason Atherton’s Social Wine & Tapas.

Sip & Snack offers will demonstrate a food pairing created by the venue – with options ranging from traditional cheese and wine matches through to quirkier food offerings. Enjoy the full white wine of Henschke, ‘Louis’ Semillon with Old Spot Belly Ribs at Hawksmoor Seven Dials, or a ‘Brosé’ on Horseback pairing at Sager + Wilde which pairs a glass of 2013 Kumo To Ame Rosé from California with Devils on Horseback.

FOR A TASTE OF LA BELLE VIE…

#LOIREMOMENTS AT VINOTECA | THURSDAY 8TH JUNE

Join wine specialist Heather Dougherty for a tasting introduction to the Loire Valley. Guests will taste their way along the River Loire starting with Muscadet, and moving through Saumur, Chinon, Vouvray, Touraine and Crémant de Loire. Each wine will be paired with delicious food.

LOIRE VALLEY BRUNCH AT SAGER + WILDE | SUNDAY 11TH JUNE

Round off the London Wine Week festivities with a spectacular Sunday. Join Loire wine specialist Lindsay Oram at a special ‘Loire Valley Wines Brunch’ to enjoy Sunday #LoireMoments. The brunch will start with a glass of a sparkling Loire classic, followed by a special wine and food pairing featuring Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Savennières, Saumur Champigny, Rosé d’Anjou and Vouvray. The perfect way to while away a Sunday afternoon, guests will also have access to a special Loire Valley Wines by the glass offer in the main restaurant throughout the day.

THE ULTIMATE ROGUE’S BRUNCH | SATURDAY 10TH JUNE

Regal Rogue have partnered with the incredible Roguette Anna Hansen and her team at The Modern Pantry to create the ultimate brunch banquet. Celebrating the native Australian aromatics in Regal Rogue’s vermouths, the menu includes dishes such as Hazelnut and Wattle Seed Pain au Chocolat and Anamasala Smoked Haddock & Sea Beet Kedgeree with Pepperberry Spiced Seeds. The Regal Rogue family will be serving fresh, seasonal fruit Aperitifs including a Lively Spritzer and Rogroni.

To bring the Australian beach party vibes to life, the dress code is ‘pastels’, whilst Mark Anthony and Def I Q will be playing vinyl disco tunes. Taking place on The Rogue Terrace at DrinkUp: The Wine Edit, once guests of the brunch have tucked in and filled up, The Wine Edit will begin its summer daytime session with tickets including both festivities.

BIG BOTTLES AT BEAST WITH CHAMPAGNE POL ROGER | THURSDAY 8TH JUNE

For a taste of decadence during London Wine Week, Pol Roger Champagne will be celebrating large bottles with an opulent pairing dinner at Beast. Alongside dishes such as Norwegian King Crab and hand-selected dry-aged Nebraskan Angus Beef, guests will be able to enjoy a number of cuvées from large bottle formats including magnum (1.5L), jeroboam (3L) and methuselah (6L). Pol Roger Champagne matures more slowly in large format bottles, meaning that the wine develops greater complexity over a longer period of time. Taking place in a suitably spectacular setting, the paired dinner will be a unique gastronomic experience.
