It’s the school holidays so summer is officially upon us (does anyone else still use school holidays as a reference point despite not having been at school for over 10 years?!) All Star Lanes on Brick Lane have launched a new Summer Menu and special G&T menu for the occasion.
Bacon Cheeseburger Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and BBQ Pulled Pork Burger are some of the new dishes on offer. BUT if you’re feeling fancy they also have a Whole Lobster chargrilled to order with chilli & lime clarified butter or an 8oz 28 day matured Dedham Vale sirloin steak. And if you’re feeling hungry have a go at the High Roller, 6oz pure-bred Wagyu beef patty, a chargrilled lobster tail, tiger shrimp skewer, crunchy slaw, rocket and creamy Creole mayo!
A full allergen menu is also available, perfect for our gluten-intolerant friend. The staff were very knowledgeable about the menu and were happy to offer swaps (such as fries for corn/coleslaw) to accommodate. They also have gluten free buns available on request.
We opted for the chargrilled chicken tenders marinated in coriander, parsley and chilli (gluten free) and the chargrilled swordfish steak rubbed in Cajun spices with tomato, basil & sweet onion salad. The chicken marinade was, by all accounts, delicious and the chicken itself was well-cooked. The swordfish, not something we see often on menus which is a shame, was also great. Despite our initial reservations about it being a bit small it was actually the perfect size with the salad and fries that accompanied it.
If you want to bowl at All Star Lanes at peak times, i.e. evenings and weekends, they ask that you also eat with them but at least here you know you can get a good meal after! They are missing a Slush Puppy machine though…
