La Tagliata

A little while back we told you about La Tagliata but since then they’ve really revved up the menu so we thought it was about time we returned!

It’s a great stop, literally a stone’s throw from Liverpool Street station (Sandy’s Row to be exact!), so it’s super handy for just about any occasion. But it’s ever so slightly off the beaten track (we know that sounds mental in such a busy part of town!) so it’s a good one to have up your sleeve! It will give you serious first date kudos.

This little Italian villa is the ideal place to while away a few hours as it would be rude not to order the full 4 courses in true Italian style.

It’s nearly impossible to choose an antipasti – so the selection of charcuterie, cheese and bread for two is ideal to kick things off. However, if you’re after something lighter we recommend the seared tuna with a fresh fennel salad.

Our favourite part about Italian cuisine has to be the pasta course – go for fresh tagliatelle with classic, rich ragu or a lovingly prepared plate of gnocchi.

We loved the authentic Scamorza – well worth a try if you haven’t experienced it before. It’s a rich plate of matured mozzarella which is then oven baked and stuffed with porcini mushrooms & finished with sundried tomatoes and super decadent truffle paste.

If meat’s more your thing the selection of steak and chicken dishes won’t disappoint and come simply cooked to showcase the expertly sourced produce. You really don’t need more then a swirl of balsamic with a fresh salad – especially after all that cheese to start!

Tiramisu is the star of the dessert show, one portion will be more than enough for two to share.

All in all, this is the ultimate winter comfort food spot, you’ll go home with a warm fuzzy feeling, so what are you waiting for?? Treat yourself.
