Look, we understand. It’s cold out and you’re skint until payday but that’s no reason to stay holed up at home!
Harvey Nichols feel your pain too, so have come up with a rather snazzy seasonal menu to cheer you up – available until the end of February.
Take the lift and zoom up to the 5th floor (you don’t even have to step foot in the shopping centre if you can’t bear the temptation). On arrival you’ll be given a complimentary “Le Grand Fizz” cocktail made with their partner Grey Goose vodka, lemon and elderflower. That alone will transport you to sunnier climes.
Next up is a choice of three starters, mains and desserts for 23 quid for two courses, or the still reasonable £27 for three. It’s available from 6-10pm Monday to Saturday so you don’t EVEN have to eat during the OAP slot.
If you thought avocado on toast was just for breakfast, you’d be wrong. Replace your regular sourdough with crostini, and top it with slivers of parma ham and et voila! You’ve got your Italian-influenced and chilli-spiked starter. Still not quite warmed up? Go for the Jerusalem artichoke and ginger soup with crème fraiche and a side of bread.
Continuing our sunny theme was a veggie friendly bowl of butternut squash risotto – as yellow as the sun, with lashings of Grana Padano cheese – it was oh so decadent and totally delicious. Meanwhile the duck leg is a must order if you’re feeling particularly hungry. On a bed of Umbrian lentils, it was a really decent portion – despite being part of a set menu.
Our favourite dessert was the ‘exotic’ tart – beautifully presented and complete with coconut shavings but there’s also cheese and biscuits available at no extra charge.
Service was great throughout and we enjoyed watching the chefs hard at work from the open kitchen. All in all we forgot that we were sitting on the top floor of a shopping centre but we reckon this is the perfect pit stop if you have indulged in the January sales – leaving you more money for shoes.
