You may have noticed we’ve just got back from Lisbon – so we’re pretty excited that this weekend – Lisbon is coming to London with Festival Iminente!! If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, look no further….
The inaugural UK edition of Festival Iminente opens at London’s Old Truman Brewery today! The two-day festival features an experimental mix of the best in Portuguese music and art, bringing the most innovative of cultural Lisbon to London’s East End following its successful debut in the Oeiras region of Lisbon last year.
Curated by Portuguese artist Vhils and Lisbon’s Underdogs Gallery, the festival has some of Europe’s most exciting underground musical acts on the line-up who will perform at 93 Feet East showcasing the best in urban music with a strong Portuguese flavour. Artists on the line-up include Novelist, DJ Glue, DJ King Kong, DJ Big, Francis Dale, Slow J, DJ Ride, Shaka Lion, Batida, DJ Nigga Fox, Cachupa Psicadélica, Chullage, Halloween, Scuru Fitchadu, Rita Maia presents Migrant Sounds, LV & Joshua Idehen, and DJ Firmeza.
The festival also features art from a carefully curated line-up of European visual artists creating immersive and political pieces. Artists featured include Add Fuel, AKA Corleone, Andre da Loba, Bordalo II, Draw & Contra, Halfstudio, Mais Menos, Mar, The Caver, Vhils and Wasted Rita (all from Portugal), as well as the UK’s Ben Eine and Sick Boy, Ireland’s Conor Harrington, and Italy’s Pixel Pancho.
As well as Portuguese street food there will be Brazilian wood-fire pizzas. Yum!
