On a sunny Thursday evening we can think of nothing better than a night filled with cheese and wine!
Damncheeky Wines have set up a pop-up wine bar on Kingsland Road running until this Sunday 17th July. They offer a short but impressive list of fizz, rosé, white and red wine, many of which come from artisanal, family-owned wineries. The friendly staff are on hand to offer advice if you’re unsure which to try. The aim is to make wine as unpretentious as possible, it’s all about the fun! We tried a delicious Barbera D’Alba from Italy (a wine we confess we had never heard of) and a great Cabernet Sauvignon + Shiraz from South Africa. As well as glasses, they also offer wines by the bottle if you think just one glass will never be enough!
Alongside the wine, a selection of small plates are on offer. The Gruyére Gougéres and Canellini Crostini with Parsley Pesto were both great accompaniments to the wine. But, of course, when it comes to wine who can resist cheese! The cheese plate included Manchego, Danish Blue, Cornish Cheddar, quince jam, grapes and bread. The cheese portions were generous and the three on offer contrasted each other nicely. Paired with a good wine, you can’t go wrong really!
Damncheeky Wine Bar and Snackery is open until Sunday 17th July and is a great place to grab a glass of wine in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. And if you can’t make it down this weekend, they are planning more pop-ups over the summer months so keep your eyes peeled!
