Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel has now opened its #TownHallYard for summer, bringing together alfresco dining complete with a barbecue run by residency Corner Room chefs and carbonated cocktails from the hotel’s in-house distillery; Peg + Patriot.
The outdoor yard, which is now open during weekends over the summer months, offers locals, hotel guests and eager sun worshipers (that’s us then!) the chance to kick back and relax, with a colada cocktail in your very own deckchair.
The pop-up cocktail bar, manned by Matt Whiley and his team at Peg + Patriot will serve inventive carbonated cocktails on tap, including our favourite, Skinny Colada (rum, lime, and home-made pina colada soda). It’s probably worth sampling them all while you’re there though, try Bertie Cup Number 1 (gin, sweet vermouth, cucumber and red liquorice soda), as well as summer favourites; Negroni (gin, sweet vermouth, aperol) and a classic G&T with Peg + Patriot’s very own distilled London dry gin.
Cocktails are priced at £6 and made from in-house distilled ingredients; including tinctures and sodas. A selection of small batch American beers are also available.
Each weekend, the yard will host a barbecue from the culinary team behind resident restaurant Corner Room. A changing menu of grilled, smoked and barbecued meat and fish will feature, accompanied by seasonal salads. Price at £8 each, they are currently dishing up 24 hour marinated, slow cooked Char Siu pork belly, Cajun cod with chilli butter and BBQ cauliflower with yeasted butter.
The #TownHallYard is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting) until mid-September, bringing a taste of the great British outdoors to East London.
